See You On The Mat: A Story of Perspective, Resilience, and Transformation through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
"This book is about a journey. A journey of perspective. We all go through life with our own perceptions and expectations based on our pasts, our experiences, and our beliefs. Beliefs of how things are or how they should be. We interpret experiences and assign meanings to them. Many times, the meanings we assign, and the perceptions we have based on them are very limited. We project our preconceived notions into situations which oftentimes keeps us from fully understanding or appreciating the opportunities we have at our fingertips. In this story you’ll meet Spencer, a young man who thinks he knows how things are. But as you’ll see, he’s about to find out that there is so much more to people and their situations than what’s on the surface.”—from the Preface

5.0 out of 5 stars It’s the people, it’s the connection, it’s the Ripples!
Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2020 Verified Purchase I can’t remember the last time I sat down and read a book from start to finish in one session. It’s funny because when I talk to people who don’t train about why I love Jiu-Jitsu so much. I always say I don’t know why, I never imagined myself rolling on the mats with sweaty people, or I don’t understand how classes about wrist releases and combat base can give me such a different outlook on life.....The honest answer is right here! It’s the people, it’s the connection, it’s the RIPPLES! eviewed in the United States on October 4, 2020 5.0 out of 5 stars Jiu Jitsu is a life journey, not a martial art. Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2020 Verified Purchase It’s inspirational, eye opening, and an incredibly beautiful story. Whether you are a Jiu-Jitsu instructor, practitioner, or someone who has never stepped foot on the mat, this book will open your eyes to the many different, yet common struggles we all face navigating life. If you didn’t train before reading, I bet you’ll want to after because this book gives a whole new meaning to “See you on the mat.” After reading it, I felt seen and that’s such a precious feeling. I’m sure you will after reading it too. |
